Geoff O’Callaghan joined in January 2024 as Senior Vice President and is the Head of U.S.
Geoff has spent 16 years in the U.S. Casualty market, underwriting a variety of industry sectors including Construction, Industrial, Consumer Products, Real Estate, and Hospitality. He initially underwrote Primary Casualty for ACE USA in Philadelphia and XL in New York, then transitioned to Excess Casualty for Markel, where he managed the Risk Management teams in the Northeast and Mid-South (Texas and Denver) before joining Ascot Group to manage the East Region until December 2023.
Geoff holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Muhlenberg College.
Prior to joining First Specialty in January 2024, Chris spent eight years building his career in underwriting and fostering relationships in the U.S. Casualty market. Chris has extensive experience servicing Fortune 1000 and middle-market-sized clients across numerous industry segments such as Manufacturing, Consumer products, Food & Service, Hospitality, and Construction.
His career began as an Excess Casualty underwriter at Sompo International (FKA Endurance Specialty Insurance). Chris transitioned to Ascot Insurance Company where he most recently served as Assistant Vice President of Excess Casualty, responsible for managing and growing a national portfolio of business.
Chris is a graduate of Fordham University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration specializing in Finance and Marketing.
Chris Falvey joined First Specialty in October 2024 as a Vice President based in San Francisco. He has experience underwriting various business classes, including Construction, Real Estate, Hospitality, Public Entities, and Manufacturing.
Chris has spent ten years in the U.S. Casualty market. Before joining Allied World, he began his career at Liberty Mutual in their Excess Casualty team. While with Allied World, Chris moved to London for two years to join a newly formed U.S. Excess Casualty team, where he was integral in building their Lloyds platform. After spending two years in London, Chris moved back to the West Coast to manage an Excess Casualty team in San Francisco. Most recently, Chris was an Account Executive with Gallagher’s Construction practice.
Chris is a graduate of Santa Clara University with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Economics.
Lisa Pratt joined First Specialty in May 2024 as an Underwriter, bringing more than 35 years of experience in the insurance industry. Lisa’s career began as a Commercial Lines service representative at Sedgwick James & Company, followed by roles as an Associate Broker at U.S. Risk and AmWins, and an Associate Underwriter at Navigators Insurance Company. Before joining First Specialty, Lisa was an Underwriter at Ascot Group. Her experience spans a variety of industry sectors, including construction, consumer goods, energy, manufacturing, real estate, and hospitality, allowing her to provide comprehensive insurance solutions.
Lisa Leonard joined First Specialty in July 2024 as an Underwriting Assistant. Following a career break to raise her family, she returned to the workforce in 2016 at Navigators Insurance Company, supporting Excess and Primary Casualty underwriting operations. Lisa expanded her role to support Management Liability, Professional Liability, and Cyber, before advancing into a Quality Assurance role, ensuring accuracy in the clearance process for multiple lines of business. Prior to joining First Specialty, she worked at Ascot Group, supporting the Excess Casualty National Accounts segment. Lisa holds an Associate's Degree in Business Management from Naugatuck Valley Community College.
Tim Proctor brings more than three decades of experience to First Specialty, having held various senior roles in excess casualty underwriting and broking. He began his career as an auditor at Coopers & Lybrand before transitioning to insurance broking at Alexander & Alexander and Johnson & Higgins/Marsh & McLennan. Tim moved into underwriting management at Chubb Atlantic Indemnity, followed by leadership roles at Starr Excess, ACE Insurance, and Aspen Insurance, where he served as Senior Vice President until retiring in 2018. He returned to the industry in 2020 as Senior Vice President at Argo Re, leading their excess casualty underwriting team.
Matt Durrant joined First Specialty in March 2024 as Vice President, Casualty. Matt began his insurance career in 2005 in the management trainee program at a local Bermudian insurance company handling local motor and property insurance and claims. After a couple of years out of the industry he joined Aon as a Technical Assistant in 2012. He worked his way up to Vice President at Aon before making the switch from broking to underwriting in October 2021, when he joined the Ascot Excess Casualty team as Vice President. Matt’s client base encompasses Auto OEMs, Hospitality, Transportation, Real Estate, Specialty Chemical, Defense Contractors, Large Industrial, to name a few.
Acacia Chiappa joined First Specialty after nearly 12 years in the insurance broking industry in Bermuda. Acacia has extensive experience across rail, transportation, healthcare, manufacturing, life sciences, and punitive insurance, with a focus on alleviating bottlenecks and mentoring others. Her career spans both insurance and reinsurance sectors, having worked across markets in the United States, United Kingdom, and Bermuda. Acacia is known for her commitment to providing tailored risk management solutions and has earned the trust of clients through her dedication to excellence and client service.
Alicia Churm joined First Specialty in 2024 as an Underwriter, following her time as a Broker with Willis Towers Watson in Bermuda, where she handled clients across various classifications. Alicia brings over 15 years of experience in the insurance industry, including underwriting roles at RenaissanceRe and Hamilton Re, where she focused on Casualty Insurance. She began her career at KPMG Bermuda in audit and accounting, spending more than three years auditing insurance and reinsurance companies on the island. Alicia holds finance and accounting qualifications and has completed her ARE and progressing towards completing her CPCU designation.
